Photos from opening night
Exhibition at the Newcastle Art School
This is a really great Exhibition of Paintings and Sculptures by 2nd Year Diploma Students, with several sales of work on the opening night.
It's a great way to start collecting works from up and coming artists, while they are affordable!
And yes I have a few in there too!

Acrylic Painting
We went to a shopping centre and sketched and photographed shoppers! Back in the studio , this is a composite of the weary women I saw, struggling with unhappy toddlers , shoppping and finding the car in the carpark!

oil painting
This is my latest oil painting. I did not use any solvents, only linseed oil and a CSO which is a paste made with Calcium carbonate, and sun thickened linseed oil.
I added this to my oil paint to give it densitiy and a beautiful butter like texture.
So NO turps at all.!!
Just like the masters used to use, :)

Beginings ...
Well, here it is the start of my Blogging Career!!
And because we are talking about beginnings, that can also mean endings.
I drew this picture towards the end of 2008 when I realised that my family life was about to change, with end of High School and children moving to Newcastle for Uni.
I used acrylic paint, pastel and conte on paper, and called it Empty Nest.
I know the title is rather corny but it was true!!!
